The player takes on the mantle of a Rogue Trader, a member of a rare and powerful aristocratic caste granted sweeping authority to explore, trade, and conquer in the name of Mankind and its God-Emperor. Newly revealed as heir to the venerable Von Valancius dynasty, one of the oldest Rogue Trader lineages still surviving, the protagonist inherits a starship, a retinue of loyal servants, and dominion over a fledgling stellar empire. Surrounded by devoted followers, dangerous outcasts, and alien xenos alike, the Rogue Trader must chart a course through this lawless frontier, making weighty decisions, whether pious, rebellious, or damning, that shape the fate of countless worlds.
